The Lodge is approached via a private drive off a quiet country lane, nestled within a peaceful farming community and enjoying commanding views across the stunning Taf Estuary. The surrounding area offers a beautiful blend of rolling countryside, sandy shores, and salt marshes, making it an ideal destination for walking, cycling, sea fishing, birdwatching, or exploring West Wales, the Brecon Beacons, and Pembrokeshire's many Blue Flag beaches.

The nearest village is Llanybri, where you can enjoy a drink and excellent pub food at the dog-friendly Farmers Arms or watch the sun go down with a drink at Taylors Towbar. Close by is the picturesque and historic village of Llansteffan, renowned for its colourful cottages and relaxed coastal charm and historic castle. The village offers a well-stocked shop and two pubs serving food. The Inn at the Sticks, an 18th-century coaching house, boasts a multi-award-winning restaurant and is well worth a visit.

Llansteffan's sandy beach offers a range of amenities, including public toilets, a tea room, fish and chip shop, ice cream kiosk, and children's play area. The beach is perfect for dogs to run freely, children to explore rock pools and build sandcastles, or visitors wishing to climb up to the impressive Llansteffan Castle and enjoy its spectacular views.

The 227 bus service connects both villages with the thriving market town of Carmarthen, which is just 10 miles away or approximately 20 minutes by car. Carmarthen offers a wide variety of shops, major supermarkets, restaurants, a bowling alley, leisure centre, museum, and mainline train station.

Wales's most famous poet, Dylan Thomas, lived across the Taf Estuary in Laugharne. His iconic Boathouse, where he wrote many of his celebrated works, can be visited and can even be seen from The Lodge. Although closely associated with Laugharne, Thomas also spent some of his life on the Llansteffan Peninsula, where several members of his family lived and worked on local farms.

A visit to the charming walled town of Tenby is highly recommended. Tenby is renowned for its historic harbour, beautiful beaches, award-winning restaurants, and delightful selection of independent boutiques and shops.

For outdoor enthusiasts, there are countless opportunities to explore the surrounding landscape. The Wales Coastal Path passes the main gate, providing easy access to some of the area's most spectacular walking routes. For those seeking more active pursuits, mountain biking, paddleboarding, kayaking, windsurfing, and many other outdoor activities are available nearby.
